About the Webinar
The talk offers an introduction to the analysis and interpretation of regression discontinuity (RD) designs in the statistical, social, behavioral, and biomedical sciences. It covers basic and advanced topics on identification, estimation, inference, and validation of RD designs. Both methodology and empirical examples are discussed throughout. Empirical illustrations are provided, demonstrating the methodology and the use of general purpose RD software.
About Matias D. Cattaneo
Dr. Matias D. Cattaneo is a Professor of Operations Research and Financial Engineering at Princeton University. His research spans econometrics, statistics, data science, and decision science, with applications to program evaluation and causal inference. Most of his work is interdisciplinary and motivated by quantitative problems in the social, behavioral, and biomedical sciences. As part of his main research agenda, he has developed novel nonparametric, semiparametric, high-dimensional, and machine learning estimation and inference procedures with demonstrably superior robustness to tuning parameter and other implementation choices.
Dr. Cattaneo is an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and the International Association for Applied Econometrics. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Econometrica, Operations Research, Statistical Science, Econometric Theory, the Econometrics Journal, and the Journal of Causal Inference. In addition, Dr. Cattaneo is an Amazon Scholar, and has advised several governmental, multilateral, nonprofit, and for-profit organizations around the world.
