Tobacco Regulatory Science Program Funding Opportunities

The Tobacco Regulatory Science Program (TRSP) offers research funding opportunities focused on tobacco regulatory science. Investigator-initiated applications may also be submitted for NIH review. As you review the grant opportunities:

  1. Identify an active funding opportunity of interest:

See current TRSP funding opportunities

  1. Discuss your research ideas with the NIH Program Officials listed in Section VII: NIH Agency Contacts of the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) or contact us to ensure your proposal addresses one or more of the High-Priority Research Topics listed in the funding opportunity.
  2. Learn about the application review process. Use this decision tree to determine whether your study is a clinical trial.
  3. Review the Frequently Asked Questions for information that will assist you as you prepare an application. Only research that is within the regulatory authority of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products will be considered for funding.
  4. Submit your Specific Aims page with your Letter of Intent (LOI) 60 days before the application submission deadline. A committee of NIH and FDA scientific staff will review them to identify potential responsiveness concerns. See Section IV: Application and Submission Information of the NOFO for instructions on LOI submission.
  5. If you modify your Specific Aims page, share your final version with one or more of the Scientific/Research Contacts listed in the NOFO before you submit your application to discuss whether new responsiveness concerns have been introduced.
