Explore ODP’s New Strategic Plan—Prevention Research: Creating a Healthier Future for All |
|
After more than a year of hard work and rich discussions, I am proud to present ODP’s Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2024–2028, Prevention Research: Creating a Healthier Future for All. As we emphasize in the plan, to make a real difference in the health and well-being of everyone in the nation, the future of prevention research must prioritize interventions; address the most common causes of injury, illness, and death; and advance health equity. We must also set a high bar for the quality of prevention research, which serves as the basis for improving the health of all people. I invite you to explore our new plan, which outlines how the office will work to increase the scope, quality, dissemination, and impact of prevention research supported by NIH over the next five years.

Recent WebinarsU.S. Preventive Services Task Force Adds “Evidence Gaps Research Taxonomy” to Clinical Practice RecommendationsIn a recent JAMA Viewpoint, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) introduced a standardized “Evidence Gaps Research Taxonomy” table that will be included in all future recommendations to describe how research on the identified gaps could impact health equity, the uptake of the service, or the recommendation’s letter grade. This new approach was built on joint efforts by the USPSTF, ODP, NIH, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to classify evidence gaps and on the Closing Evidence Gaps in Clinical Prevention consensus study report. |
