Health Science Policy Analyst
Dr. Valerie Robinson joined the Office of Disease Prevention (ODP) in November 2023 from the Office of Extramural Research (OER) where she had the privilege of working on a wide range of initiatives related to research funding and grants administration.
During her tenure at OER, she gained invaluable experience in navigating the intricacies of National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant processes, fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, and ensuring the successful implementation of research programs. This experience, as well as her prior work at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute in the Vascular Biology and Hypertension Branch, has equipped her with a deep understanding of the NIH's extramural research ecosystem. Dr. Robinson is also the recipient of recent NIH Director’s Awards, one most notably amid the COVID-19 world event.
With research focuses of health disparities, maternal and women’s health, early intervention, and prevention, she is excited to leverage this knowledge to contribute to the ODP's vital mission of preventing diseases and promoting health through evidence-based practices.
Dr. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a Master of Health Administration and Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Ph.D. in health services from Walden University.
