Thank you for joining us for the 2017 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Pathways to Prevention Workshop: Methods for Evaluating Natural Experiments in Obesity. During this 1½-day workshop, we will evaluate natural experiment research designs in obesity prevention and control research to advance the field and effect change in obesity prevention nationally. Information About the Natcher Conference Center and Visiting the NIH

The Natcher Conference Center (Building 45) is part of the NIH and is located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The Natcher Conference Center is across the street and north of Lister Hill Center (Building 38A) and the National Library of Medicine (Building 38).

Wireless Internet Access

Guest wireless service is available for workshop participants at the Natcher Conference Center. This service provides access to the Internet and social media only. Please note that the network is not secure or encrypted, and it does not allow access to any NIH internal systems, services, or resources.

To access the guest wireless service, simply follow these steps:

  1. Select the NIH-Guest-Network in “Available Wireless Networks” from a laptop or mobile device, then click the “Connect” button.
  2. Once you launch a web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari), you will be redirected to a page displaying the network’s Terms and Conditions.
  3. After reading the Terms and Conditions, click “Accept” and you will have immediate access to the Internet.

NIH Campus Dining and Preordering Lunch Options

Due to an Executive Order by the federal government, no meals may be provided at NIH-sponsored meetings. This includes continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  • Breakfast: 6:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m.
  • Lite Fare: 9:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
  • Lunch: 11:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Preordering and Purchasing of Box Lunch

The workshop breaks are short, and although a cafeteria and coffee shop are located in the NIH Natcher Conference Center, these locations may be very busy during meal breaks. To avoid delays, we encourage you to preorder and purchase a box lunch for each day of the workshop.

Please follow these instructions to preorder and purchase your lunch.

Orders must be submitted 72 hours in advance of the workshop.

  2. Review the “Customer Login” section shown on the left and right of your screen (either option will work).
  3. Once you have created your account or logged in to an existing account, you will be redirected to your account’s “Welcome Page.”
  4. On the left of your screen, in the “Order Option” section, click on the button “Box Lunch Orders Ph: (410) 903-5592” [just click on the button; you do not need to call the number].
  5. On the right of your screen (the page is now titled “Catering”), click on the “Lunch” button.
  6. The label “Boxed Lunch” will then appear under the “Lunch” button. Click on “Boxed Lunch.”
  7. From the listed options, click the “Make Selections” button corresponding with your preference.
  8. You will then enter a quantity next to your preferred sandwich/salad type and, from the list of options, check a box next to your preferred beverage. Once completed, click on the “Order” button.
  9. Review your order, make any changes, and click the “Continue” button.
  10. Select the date you would like to have the purchased lunch delivered to you at the workshop (you may need to change the calendar month if only November is showing).
  11. Complete the “Delivery/Pickup” section:
    1. For Location, select “On Campus Delivery.”
    2. Check the box marked “copy contact information.”
    3. For Building, please enter “Building 45, Natcher Conference Ctr.”
    4. For Contact Name, if not filled, enter your first and last name.
    5. For Room Name, write “Main Auditorium Foyer.”
    6. For Special Instructions, write “P2P Workshop.”
  12. Complete the “Event Details” section:
    1. For Food Delivery time on December 5, select “10:45 a.m.” (When ordering for December 6, select the delivery time of “11:45 a.m.”)
      1. NOTE for December 6: There is no designated lunch break on day 2. The final 10-minute break of the morning is set for 12 noon. The workshop ends with consecutive sessions between 12:10 p.m. and 1:20 p.m.
    2. For Guest Count, enter “1.”
    3. Do not complete any other fields in this section.
  13. Select “Continue” at the bottom of the page.
  14. Complete the “Order Name” field at the top of page and type your LAST NAME, First name.
  15. Review your selection, and when ready to submit the order, click on “Proceed to Checkout” and follow the payment instructions.
