Kate Winseck joined the Office of Disease Prevention (ODP) as a Program Analyst in October 2015. As coordinator of the Pathways to Prevention workshop program, she develops and hosts workshops to identify research gaps in various scientific areas. She is also responsible for promoting and facilitating collaborative prevention research projects across the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  Ms. Winseck also manages the ODP’s support contract.

Ms. Winseck has over 15 years of experience managing and implementing federal health programs, with a focus on disease prevention topics, community outreach and engagement, and public health communication and education campaigns. Prior to joining the ODP, Ms. Winseck spent 11 years at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development as a Project Officer and Communications Coordinator for the National Children’s Study. Ms. Winseck oversaw study operations and field implementation at six Study Centers nationwide, and provided communications oversight and management.

Ms. Winseck came to the NIH in 2003 as a Presidential Management Fellow with the National Cancer Institute. Prior to joining the NIH, she held a number of research and clinical social work positions in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The focus of her work was on community health, specifically maternal and child health within underserved communities. Her interests include maternal and child health promotion, health education and communication, and program management and strategic planning.

Ms. Winseck earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School for Social Policy and Practice, and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Gettysburg College.
