Ms. Langer joined the ODP in December 2010 as a Senior Communications Advisor/Technical Writer-Editor. She conducts a wide range of communications activities for ODP programs, such as the Consensus Development Program, the Medicine: Mind the Gap Lecture Series, the Medicine in the Media Course, and the Robert S. Gordon, Jr. Lecture in Epidemiology. Ms. Langer serves as an ODP representative on the NIH IC International Representatives Committee. This committee provides an opportunity for NIH staff to share ideas and information on relevant programs and to develop input from an international perspective on cross-cutting NIH initiatives.
Before joining ODP, Ms. Langer served as an Advocacy Relations Manager at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Office of Advocacy Relations, where she was responsible for the development and coordination of advocacy activities surrounding various aspects of cancer research. This included researching, developing, and disseminating key health communications documents to the advocacy community, managing various NCI research advocate committees, and working with key NCI leadership to develop and implement public health outreach programs that further disseminate and highlight the scientific research being conducted at NCI.
Ms. Langer received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a Master of Public Health from George Washington University, Washington, DC (Health Promotion and Disease Prevention).
