Jen Hession joined the ODP Communications Team in February 2018. At the ODP, Ms. Hession manages the ODP's website, social media outreach, and analytics program. She also provides communications support for activities that identify prevention research areas for investment or expanded effort by the NIH.
Before joining the ODP, Ms. Hession served as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellow in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Women’s Health (OWH). At the OWH, Ms. Hession drafted and updated health education materials related to safe medication use, caregiving, and HIV. She also assisted with the development of a cross-center health communications study. Prior to her work at the FDA, Ms. Hession spent several years at a public relations firm focused on nonprofit and public health communications and advocacy. Her responsibilities included managing social media, training advocates, and conducting media outreach.
Ms. Hession received a Bachelor of Arts (public health, psychology) and a Master of Science in Public Health (health communication and health education) from Johns Hopkins University.
